An independent software studio building tools that respect your data.
Our promise: across every product we ship, your data stays out of our hands. The shape of that promise depends on whether the product is software you install or a website you visit — see How We Build below for the specifics.
Zero Permission LLC is a small, independent software studio organized in the State of Colorado. We build tools for people who are tired of installing a calculator and being asked for access to their contacts.
The company is structured to stay small and stay slow. We do not take venture funding and we do not sell user data. Across the portfolio, the business model varies by product: some are paid one-time-purchase apps, some are free ad-supported web tools. What stays constant is what's on our side of the line — we don't extract from you on the side, we don't track you across products, and we don't pivot toward harvesting attention.
The name is a commitment. Most mobile apps request far more access than they need — contacts for a calculator, location for a note-taking app, camera for a weather widget. These permissions are rarely essential and are almost always monetized indirectly, through data brokers, ad networks, or future product pivots.
We take the opposite approach. Our installed software ships with the minimum possible permission surface — ideally zero. If a feature genuinely requires a permission (like notifications for optional alerts), we ask for it narrowly, explain why, and let you refuse without losing the rest of the app.
Our commitments are specific by surface, not vague at the umbrella. Software you install is governed by one set of rules; software you visit on the open web is governed by another.
Zero permissions wherever technically possible. Local-first — your data lives on your device, no cloud, no servers, no sync by default. No accounts — nothing to register, nothing to compromise. No analytics — we don't know how many times you opened the app, what you tapped, or how long you stayed, because we don't collect it. No ads, ever — not at launch, not after a pivot, not as a "free tier" later. One-time purchases — no subscriptions, no recurring billing, no surprise fees. Offline-capable by design.
Cookieless analytics only — server-side request counts, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics, no fingerprinting. No accounts required to use the calculators. Some sites host ads to keep them free, in which case third-party ad networks operate under their own published privacy policies, which we disclose on each site. We don't sell or share your data, and we don't follow you across the web. The web is a different shape than an installed app — we're upfront about what changes between them and what doesn't.
We currently ship two products: AvoidZero: Cash Flow Forecast (a paid Android app — financial runway calculator) and Carry Horizon (a free ad-supported web app — honest calculators for FX carry trades). Each carries the surface-appropriate version of our commitments above.
