Getting Started

AvoidZero turns a few inputs into a picture of your financial future:

• Your current balance — the cash you have today
• Your income sources — paychecks, benefits, rental income, one-time deposits
• Your expenses — rent, subscriptions, groceries, debt payments, anything regular or one-off

Once entered, the app projects your balance forward day by day and shows the date your money runs out if nothing changes. Every paycheck is a jump up. Every bill is a drop. The result is a sawtooth pattern — the real shape of your cash flow, not a monthly average.

You can adjust inflation rate, safety buffer, and per-source income growth to refine the projection.

Reading the Runway Graph

The main screen shows your balance over time as an interactive sawtooth line:

• Upward jumps — payday deposits and one-time income
• Downward drops — scheduled bills and expenses, grouped by date
• Daily drift — continuous small-burn expenses (groceries, fuel, etc.)
• The tightest point — the lowest balance on your timeline, marked clearly. This is the day you are most vulnerable to an unexpected cost.

Tap any point on the graph to see that day's projected balance, what happens on that date, and what changes are coming next.

Monte Carlo Simulations (Modeling Pack)

The base projection assumes your inputs are exactly right. Real life isn't. AvoidZero's Monte Carlo simulations run hundreds of randomized futures to show how likely different outcomes are under stress.

Stress Presets

• Stable — your baseline scenario with modest variance
• Inflation — costs rise faster than expected; income stays flat
• Recession — income drops, expenses spike, unemployment risk
• Stagflation — the worst case: rising costs and income shocks together

Probability Bands (P5 / P25 / P50 / P75 / P95)

Simulation results are shown as bands around your projected balance. P50 is the median — the middle outcome across all simulations. P5 means "95 out of 100 simulations stayed above this line." Looking at how wide the band spreads tells you how much uncertainty exists in your situation.

Interactive Tools

After running a simulation, you can explore what-ifs: Purchase Impact, Income Shock, Emergency Fund Sizer, Max Safe Burn Rate. Each answers a specific question — "can I afford this?", "what if my income drops 20%?" — using the same simulated futures.

Optimization Tools (Advanced Pack)

Four specialized optimizers help you make concrete decisions:

• Debt Payoff — given multiple debts with different APRs and minimum payments, the optimizer finds how to allocate any extra money to minimize total interest, fastest payoff, or maximum cash-flow relief.
• Survive This Month — when cash is tight, this optimizer triages bills: which to pay in full, which to delay into grace periods, which to skip. Estimates the late-fee cost of each strategy.
• Bill Timing — reschedules flexible bills (subscriptions, credit card due dates you can adjust) to smooth the cash-flow dips and reduce overdraft risk.
• Savings Goal — asks "can I afford this target?" and returns the probability of reaching it by a given date, plus a month-by-month plan.

Each optimizer shows not just a result but the reasoning — why a particular choice is better — so you can learn the logic, not just follow a recipe.

Profiles & Backup

You can maintain up to three separate workspaces (profiles) with the Base Unlock purchase. Each workspace has its own balance, income sources, expenses, and saved results — useful for modeling "current situation" vs. "after a raise" vs. "if I move cities."

Your data can be exported as a .rclock backup file — a single file you control, which you can store wherever you like (email to yourself, cloud drive, USB stick) and restore on a new device. Your backup never touches our servers. There are no servers.

Privacy & Data

AvoidZero is built on a simple principle: your financial data never leaves your device. We collect nothing. We have no servers handling your data. The app requires zero special permissions — no contacts, no location, no storage beyond your own backup files.

The only exception is Google Play Billing for in-app purchases, which is handled by Google and governed by their privacy policy. We never receive your payment information.
